Our Story
In 1971 my dad, Fred Blevins, went to work for Piping Engineering. As a little kid, I remember Dad talking about all of the guys he worked with; even though I’d never met most of them, they knew who I was, and I knew them — they were family. Three of my brothers — Neal, Kenny and Gary — all worked for Piping at one time or another. In fact, Neal gave me my first shop job sweeping floors there in the summer of 1983.
After leaving college in 1988, I came back to this shop and have been here ever since. The guys I’ve worked with have been there for me through my wedding, the birth of my three kids and beyond. They are my family. So when we found out this shop would be closing in December of 2010, it was devastating. Loss of a job was the least of our worries. How do you start over after more than 20 years? That’s when I decided we didn’t have to.
2011 was the most trying and rewarding year of my life. But through constant prayer, my faith in the Lord and the support of my family, I managed to survive six months of unemployment and purchase this Sand Springs facility. Seven guys from our previous employer held out, waiting on us to reopen the shop. It was so encouraging that they had so much faith in what I was doing.
In the last nine months, we’ve grown from nine employees to 38, and no matter how many guys/ladies are in our shop, they will always be my family. To drive that message home, we even have a family dinner once a month. Nothing says family like a good ‘ol fish fry! I know business is business, but with me, God and family come first.
When I started this endeavor my mom gave me a piece of paper. On that paper she had written, “Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will make your plans succeed.”
I appreciate your time and look forward to meeting you!
Best Regards,
Charlie Blevins
